Intent
- To inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about Ras Al Khaimah and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
- To equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.
- To deepen their understanding of the interaction between physical and human processes, and of the formation and use of landscapes and environments.
- To gain geographical knowledge, understanding and skills to provide the framework and approaches that explain how the Earth’s features at different scales are shaped, interconnected and change over time.
- To help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of the past and that of the wider world.
- To inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past and equip pupils to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement.
- To understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time.
Implementation
- All staff will use assessment for learning to ensure all lessons are relevant and will help to plan for next steps.
- Through our teaching, geographical skills, sources and visits, we will attempt to excite and intrigue our children to find out more.
- We will develop deep subject knowledge and key skills while differentiating work for all abilities.
- Thorough and ongoing monitoring systems to ensure all aspects, knowledge and skills of the History of Ras Al Khaimah are being taught across all year groups.
Impact
- To develop students’ capacity and have a deeper understanding about the world in which they live in.
- To use feedback and self-assessment to provide information in relation to attainment.
- To develop students’ appreciation about the world in which we live in and for them to interact positively within the locality and wider world.
