In line with the supreme directions of declaring 2018 as the Year of Zayed , following the ideology of the founding builder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan believing that " who has no past, has neither present nor future" , and believing in spreading the national culture and heritage as a major goal of the Department of Antiquities and Museums' , The Department launched the initiative of " Zayed Council For Emirati Identity ", yesterday .
The first induction meeting was attended by His Excellency Ahmed Obaid Al-Teniji , General Manager of the Department of Antiquities & Museums, and the Representative Members of Zayed Councils for Emirati Identity . The Meeting included a speech given by the General Manager presenting the Council and it's goals and tasks, as it involved an introductory tour in the RAK National Museum and a visit to the traditional Sheikh Mohammed Bin Salem Mosque .
His Excellency Ahmed Obaid Al-Teniji said that the initiative of the council was established at a number of local Government Departments in the Emirate , and that it aimed at acquainting with the traditional and Historical Heritage , and consolidating the Emirati national customs, traditions and identity among each department's employees and their clients by adopting a series of initiatives, events and activities . He added : "that the Department of Antiquities & Museums will assume a set of tasks such as providing direction and consultation in Heritage, customs and traditions, as well as organizing visits to the Archaeological sites belonging to the Department and the Archaeological and heritage sites all over the UAE . Plus, the Department will be a link between the Local Departments, Heritage Associations and Private Museums in the Emirate . Moreover, the Department will of Antiquities & Museums will adopt training and sensitizing the Members of Zayed Emirati Identity Councils to transfer their experiences and acquired skills to the employees of the Government Departments for which they work . The Department will also organize fairs showing antiques in the those departments for acquainting the clients and employees of those departments with the ancient culture and history Ras Al-Khaimah.
Amal Ibrahim Al-Nuaime , Head of Corporate Communication Office in the Department added that : " the Department is aiming at spreading the traditional and Historical Heritage, and consolidating the national Emirati magnificent customs and traditions, and acquainting all society's classes and groups with them . The Employees and clients in the Government Departments will be the targeted classes by Zayed Emirati Identity Council "
